(Also Nefertete)---Egyptian Queen of the 14th century B.C.E., wife of Amenhotep IV (or Akhenaten, who was the first Egyptian Pharoah to abolish the polytheism of his ancestors in favor of worship of a single deity, Aton, or Aten).

   Nefertiti was reknowned for her beauty. Unfortunately, very little is known about her birth or death. It is speculated that she was not born of royal blood (her father might have been one of the high court officials). The details of her death are not known, but she outlived her husband, and helped his successor (her son?) Tutankhamen for a while.
