Sri Radhashtaka
(Eight Prayers Glorifying Srimate Radha)

dshi dishi racayantim sañcaran-netra-lakshmi-
vilasita-khuralibhih khañjaritasya khelam
hrdaya-madhupa-mallim ballavadhisha-sunor
akhila-guna-gabhiram radhikam arcayami
I worship Sri Radhika, who, with the splendid beauty of Her restless
eyes plays as a khañjana bird turning to every direction, who is the malli
flower that attracts the bumblebee of the prince of Vraja's heart, and who
is deeply filled with all transcendental virtues.

pitur iha vrishabhanor anvayaya-prashastim
jagati kila samaste sushthu vistarayantim
vraja-nripati-kumaram khelayantim sakhibhih
surabhini nija-kunde radhikam arcayami
I worship Sri Radhika, who spreads throughout the world the fame of the
dynasty of Her father, King Vrishabhanu, and who, accompanied by Her friends,
plays in Her own fragrant lake with the prince of Vraja.

sharad-upacita-raka-kaumudi-natha-kirti-
prakara-damana-diksha-dakshina-smera-vaktram
natad-aghabhid-apangottunitananga-rangam
kalita-ruci-tarangam radhikam arcayami
I worship Sri Radhika, whose smiling face expertly eclipses the glory
of the autumn moon, who is flooded with waves of beauty, and who, aroused by
the dancing sidelong glances of Lord Krishna, has become the dancing arena of
Kama.

vividha-kusuma-vrindotphulla-dhammilla-dhati-
vighatita-mada-ghurnat-keki-piccha-prashastim
madhuripu-mukha-bimbodgirna-tambula-raga-
sphurad-amala-kapolam radhikam arcayami
I worship Sri Radhika, whose braided hair, decorated with many kinds of
blossoming flowers, has violently attacked and broken the fame of the tails
of the jubilantly dancing peacocks, and whose splendid white cheek is marked
with a spot of red betelnut from Lord Krishna's bimba fruit mouth.

amalina-lalitantah-sneha-siktantarngam
akhila-vidha-vishakha-sakhya-vikhyata-shilam
sphurad-aghabhid-anargha-prema-manikya-petim
dhrita-madhura-vinodam radhikam arcayami
I worship Sri Radhika, whose heart is sprinkled with pure love for
Lalita, who is famous for performing all kinds of friendly activities for
Vishakha's sake, who is a treasure chest of the priceless rubies of pure love
for Lord Krishna, and who is very sweet and playful.

atula-mahasi vrindaranya-rajye 'bhishiktam
nikhila-samaya-bhartuh karttikasyadhidevim
aparimita-mukunda-preyasi-vrinda-mukhyam
jagad-agha-hara-kirtim radhikam arcayami
I worship Sri Radhika, who is the crowned queen of the incomparably
glorious kingdom of Vrindavana forest, who is the presiding deity of the
month of Karttika, the best of all auspicious occassions, who is the first
of Lord Mukunda's countless beloveds, and whose fame removes the sins of
this world.

hari-pada-nakha-koti-prishta-paryanta-sima-
tatam api kalayantim prana-koter abhishtam
pramudita-madirakshi-vrinda-vaidagdhya-diksha-
gurum ati-guru-kirtim radhikam arcayami
I worship Sri Radhika, who considers the tip of Lord Krishna's toenail
millions of times more dear than Her own life, who is the art-teacher of
many happy, beautiful-eyed gopis, and whose fame is very great.

amala-kanaka-pattoddhrishta-kashmira-gaurim
madhurima-laharibhih samparitam kishorim
hari-bhuja-parirabdham labdha-romanca-palim
sphurad-aruna-dukulam radhikam arcayami
I worship Sri Radhika, whose fair complexion is crushed kunkuma in a
golden pestle, who is an adolescent girl flooded with waves of sweetness,
who is embraced by the arm of Lord Hari, whose bodily hairs stand erect in
ecstasy, and who is dressed in splendid red silk garments.

tad-amala-madhurimnam kamam adhara-rupam
paripathati varishtham sushthu radhashtakam yah
ahimakirana-putri-kula-kalyana-candrah
sphutam akhilam abhishtam tasya tushtas tanoti
Lord Krishna, the auspicious moon shining on the Yamuna's shore, becomes
pleased and fulfills all the desires of a person who reads these eight
beautiful verses, which are a reservoir of Sri Radhika's splendid and pure
sweetness.
