Μεγης
The son of Phyleus and Ctimene who was a daughter of Laertes and therefore a sister of Odysseus. Through his father he was a descendant of Augias. Other accounts say that his mother was Timandra, a sister of Helen and Clytemnestra, a daughter of Tyndareus (Table 19). He appears among Helen's suitors; because of this, he took part in the seige of Troy. He commanded the contingent from Dulichium and the Echinades. Before Troy he killed Pedaeus, Croesmus and Amphiclus. He was said to have been killed at Troy but this is not mentioned in the Iliad. The tradition followed by Polygnotus in the great fresco at Delphi depicted him among the Greeks who had returned from Troy, but it was accepted that he had been wounded and perhaps he died during the voyage.
