Βρυτη
A daughter of Ares (Mars) and an attendant of Artemis; her legend was identical with that of Britomartis. She was loved by Minos and threw herself into the sea where her body was recovered in a fisherman's net. A plague broke out and the oracle pronounced that to bring it to an end she must be accorded divine honours under the name of Diana Dictynna (Artemis of the net).
