AMON
(ah' muhn) HEBREW: AMON
"trustworthy"
_______________

One of the younger sons of King Manasseh, Amon ascended the throne of Judah at the age of 22. During his short reign (642-640 B.C.), Amon continued his father's policy of subservience to Assyria and his support of pagan worship. He was assassinated by his servants in a palace plot and succeeded by his eight-year-old son, Josiah, who was to enjoy a lengthy reign.
