Early Winter,  the first cold night

we lean against her car door as

frost forms on the windshield

She has her arms wrapped around my waist

but we're not talking

just exhaling clouds

The sky above, surrounded by stars,

her dark hair blends into the night

as a single airplane flies over

Its echo is a delayed reaction

minutes and miles after it passes by

a low rumble as its lights fade into the distance
