Trademark owned by S.C. Johnson & Son to set the company apart from large, publicly-traded, “we-care-only-about-the-bottom-line” corporations like Procter & Gamble, Clorox, and Reckitt Benckiser. S.C. Johnson says they can offer higher-quality products and friendlier customer service since they’re owned by the family that founded the company in 1886.

The company’s website tells the story of how they give to The Nature Conservancy and how they’ve managed to win several awards for environmental action. What they don’t mention is that they are primarily in the business of making household cleaners, which can be very toxic and deadly if used improperly (not to mention, their dislike of competition so much that in most of their advertising, they claim that their products are superior to others).
