Louise Glück is a poet from Massachusetts. Her books are sequences of poems that grow like moss around the trunk of an extended theme/metaphor. Glück's language is simple, translucent, often numinous.

Some of Glück's works include The Triumph of Achilles, Meadowlands, and The Wild Iris. Her newest work, Vita Nova, won the 2000 Pulitzer Prize for poetry. the butterfly and The Wish are from Meadowlands, a slim volume of poems which weaves the day to day cruelty of a dissolving marriage into the story of Odysseus and Penelope.
