English/Wales hostel organization. It offers membership, and operates on similar principles to Hostelling International, giving discounts to members, but not blocking non-members from staying at an affiliated hostel. The YHA (Youth Hostel Association) is a member of the International Youth Hostel Federation, and it operates under the same principles of its parent organization.
The YHA website lists their role in the hostel community as being "a charity aiming to help all, especially those of limited means, to a greater knowledge, love and care of the countryside and cities, particularly by providing hostels or other simple accommodation for them in their travels, and thus to promote their health, rest and education."
