Here's a quick and easy way to determine your social class.

If, when you go in to work,

  • your name is on your shirt, you are working class
  • your name is on your desk, you are middle class
  • and finally, if when you go in to work, your name is on the building, you are upper class.

Names of the first type would be found on restaurant nametags or sewn onto gas station shirts.
Names of the second kind are engraved on those sliding brown nameplates, and are sometimes found on the door to your office, if you have one.
Names of the third type would be names such as "Trump, Merrill Lynch, or Revlon," and usually are carved in the cornerstone or above the entrance to the building, sometimes in gold.
