A tiny village a few miles inland from Cavtat near Dubrovnik in Yugoslavia. White rocks everywhere. Fields consisted of gaps where the white rocks had been stacked into walls.

There were three engines in the village when I visited in 1989: the bus, the bus driver's Zastava copy of the Fiat 500 and a rotavator. My father and I went there expecting a quaint little tourist village, but it was more like the Third World. Nightmare bus ride. Lovely people though, all in traditional dress.
