Alcool is
French for '
alcohol'.
Alcool is also a generic brand grain alcohol available in some locations in Canada. Although previous versions of this product had a ridiculously high alcohol content, the current product manufactured by Dekuyper consists of only 40% alcohol by volume (80 proof). 1140 mL bottles of Alcool are available from the LCBO (Liquor Control Board of Ontario) for $30 Canadian (roughly $20 American).
According to the LCBO web site, http://www.lcbo.com, Alcool is 'clear and colourless, [with] clean aromas and a neutral palate.'
The current reigning champion in Canada (in terms of alcohol content) is Alcohol-95, at (you guessed it) 95% alcohol by volume (190 proof). Everclear is a similar product available in the United States.
