Googly Minotaur was the name of the AOL Instant Messenger bot designed to answer questions about Radiohead and perform a couple other amusing functions. Active Buddy Inc. was comissioned to create Googly by the band's label, Capitol Records, in early June 2001. Aside from being able to provide information about the band, quotes, and tour dates, Googly Minotaur was fun to pick a fight with when none of your real friends were online, and could also play a mean game of Radiohead hangman. Unfortunately, Googly Minotaur is no more as of January 31st, 2002. A small petition to bring him back is running from Capitol's Radiohead website, but it's unlikely that you'll ever be able to bug the AI über-fan for lyrics to Fake Plastic Trees again.
