Gatemouth Brown is categorized as a blues artist, only because that's what he's closest to. He plays many styles of music (jazz, blues, bluegrass, zydeco, cajun, calypso) and is a multi-instrumentalist (guitar, violin, harmonica, piano, mandolin, viola, drums). Born in 1924, he gained fame for jumping up on stage when T-Bone Walker got sick, dropped his guitar, and left. Gatemouth grabbed the guitar, got on stage, and played... he has since been a leading blues musician.
