trolls mostly.
In
Slashdot, if you want that your comment will be seen (and moderated up), you have to respond fast once a new story has been submitted, before it gets a lot of comments by other people. Hence "early post".
Early post doesn't have to be troll-oriented, unlike the first post which happens to be off-topic almost everytime.
