On meeting this man, you first realise that he is embarassingly,
conversation-stoppingly huge. His
ears , likewise, are not diminutive. Unlike his current opening partner for England
Darren Gough, he is not
cheerful and
tubby, but
gaunt and
gangly and
stern. He bowls a little more
slowly than his counterpart, low- as opposed to high-eighties (mph), but is more consitant with his
line and length, although his great height allows him good high bounce. Slightly
greying now, this
workhorse will probably lose his central contract with England in a couple of seasons. Oh well. He's a
very nice bloke, certainly.
