The
nickname of the
infamous IBM line of
hard drives:
DeskStar.
All was good until those drives started dying like Ebola victims, exhibiting the 'Squeaks of Demise' as they tear clusters and blocks of data to unreadable pieces of rabbish.
IBM was pushing the limits of magnetic storage just a little too far, resulting in a large percentage of drive failures - especially in its UDMA/ATA lines: the 60GXP and 75GXP.
On June 2002, IBM got rid of their hard drive division and sold it to Hitachi.
