US Military jargon: The
Snack Officer in a
military unit. Typically a
second lieutenant, they are responsible for running the
snack bar of the unit. This is an
additional duty.
This will usually require a weekly trip to the Commissary to acquire snacks and beverages, keeping account balances, and generally being hit up for money by every squadron function.
In fighter squadrons, the SnackO usually also has to take care of the beer kegs in the crud room.
