American film actress

  • born: July 16, 1907
  • died: January 20, 1990

Stanwyck's career as a performer began on stage in vaudeville and cabaret shows.

After a few silent films, Stanwyck moved to Hollywood and began performing on the Silver Screen, starring in Frank Capra's "Ladies of Leisure" and "The Miracle Woman" (both released in 1931).

Although her film career was over after the late 1950s, she stayed in the public eye through TV roles in the western series Big Valley and the mini-series The Thorn Birds. Stanwyck became a prolific Hollywood actress, appearing in well over 75 movies, however, none of her films were of Oscar quality.
