Combini is the shorthand word most Japanese people use to refer to a convenience store. American companies such as 7-11, Arco Am-Pm, Lawson's and Circle K have a large presence in Japan but there are also several indigenous combini chains.
Aside from the typical convenience store fare, many Japanese use the combini to pay their bills, which is actually a very easy and fast process.
