An early 8-voice polyphonic sampler synthesizer, with a 61-note velocity & aftertouch keyboard. Relesed in 1985.

The Prophet 2000 is essentially a low quality 12-bit sampler with a tiny 256K memory upgradeable to 512K. For sample storage a 3.5" floppy drive is available. With the included analog VCFs and VCAs one can apply trendy filter effects over the sampled sounds.

The keyboard can be split into 8 layers. An arpeggiator is included, and MIDI support is there as well. These things combined with a cheap price can make the Prophet 2000 useful, despite its less-than-optimal sampling capabilities.
