A 48-voice
polyphonic semi-
modular analog synthesizer with a 48-note
keyboard. Released in
August 1977.
The PS-3100 features a
massive 48 note
polyphony, a voice for each key. The sounds are generated with 12
divide-down
VCOs, making them
thin (although the polyphony makes up for it). As a
filter there is an unusual "
triple resonance"
VCF, which can be used for interesting
phonetic/
vocal sounds. Also included are an
LFO and 3
limited EGs with no
release control.
Sample/Hold is available, but there is no
patch memory.
The main
panel of PS-3100 is similar than in the
MS line, with both
hard wired and
patchable routings. The
patch bay adds extra
flexibility to the otherwise limited programmability.
