A-go-go bells are a latin instrument consisting of two bells, resembling smallish cowbells, which are connected at the base by a rod. The two bells have different pitches, and are played with a stick, in the same manner as a cowbell. Generally, they are attached to a stand, and can be included as part of either a latin set or common drum set. They are most often used to add a "layered" effect to music, and are added stylistically. When used properly, they can greatly enhance the sound of a rhythm, but can also become very obnoxious if overused.
