The Oslo games introduced the Olympic torch, even though it didn't come from
Olympia this time.
Again, Norway dominated the games, but with the United States as a strong
contender. Canada won their seventh gold in ice hockey out of eight
attempts. Norwegian truck driver Hjalmar Andersen won 3 individual speed
skating gold medals in 3 days. Cross country skiing for women was a new
event, as were events for women and men in giant slalom.
