The Gibson Les Paul model and the cheaper Epiphone knockoffs are known for their warm, full tone and smooth, elegant curves. These guitars come in a number of varieties, Classic, Standard, Custom, Special, Deluxe and Studio to name a few. There are also a number of limited edition models and signature models. Les Pauls come in a range of prices, from Classics which never cost less than a few thousand dollars to Epiphone Studio models which can be gotten for under $500. Les Pauls are almost all 6 string guitars, although I have seen 12 string Epiphone Les Pauls. All Les Pauls are solid body electric guitars with 2 volume and 2 tone controls, one for each pickup. They have a single cutaway below the neck(as opposed to a Strat or SG which has a double cutaway) and humbucking pickups. Les Pauls are IMNSHO some of the most beautiful and best-sounding guitars ever.
