The Unicode Alphabetic Presentation Forms code block contains Latin, Armenian and Hebrew characters which are ligatures or alternate representations which exist in legacy encodings. This means they are compatibility characters needed for successful round trip translation to some character sets.

It is generally recommended that implementations store characters in unligated form, and leave the production of ligatures to the display or formatting software.

Unicode's Alphabetic Presentation Forms code block reserves the 80 code points from U+FB00 to U+FB4F, of which 58 are currently assigned.
