I sometimes give good advice. But I am horrible at following my own advice, guidelines, and maxims. Whenever I send someone an email that contains advice, I save the outgoing message and make sure I look at it later.

This isn't strange or twisted. It is much easier to give advice, to spot blocks and bullshit, and to get a good handle on a situation, when the person in question is not you. It is much easier to see and think clearly.

There are no teachers, who are always teachers, or students, who are always students. I prefer to say that we are just each others' spiritual caddy: We walk along beside each other, offering a second opinion, and handing them the right club at the right time.
