The extended family consists of 3 or more generations of blood relatives. Grandparents, their children and grandchildren form the basic group. Many cultures with strong family ties would also consider cousins, aunts and uncles as part of their extended family. With the increase of blended families of divorce, other step relations may be considered part of the family including step-parents, step-children and step-grandparents.
