A Greek pagan historian from Thebes in Egypt who lived in the 5th century AD. Believed to have served as an envoy to the Huns on behalf of Honorius and to have lived at both Athens and Rome.

He wrote an annalistic complilation of events that was intended as source material for a history which he dedicated to the emperor Theodosius II. The original work amounted to 20 books, covered the years 407-425 and was completed not long after 425.

Zosimus later used this work as a source for the later years of his New History written 75 years later. All that has survived of Olympiodorus' original are various summarised fragements collated in the Myriobyblion or Bibliotheca of Photius in the 9th century.
