I can confirm that germs can pass through 10 layers of toilet paper, having done a test in the microbiology lab a few years ago consisting of taking sterile gloves, picking up some pre-rolled toilet paper, rubbing the toilet paper against a culture medium of E. coli, then then smearing my gloved finger on fresh culture medium and culturing that. They grew.
I am highly skeptical about the spider stories though. And the one about coughing your guts out. Coughing your guts out is much more difficult than prolapsing your rectum.
