This table and the web site describing it are simply amazing. The table itself is a periodic table made out of wood, and stands on four legs. Each chemical element has its own 3-inch square wooden panel, which is inlaid into the table. Underneath this there is a compartment for sample of each element, most of which have been populated. Another fascinating feature of this table is that different kinds of wood were used for each family of elements (e.g. Alkali metals are teak, transition metals are white oak, etc.)
