S.E. Hinton (person)

S.E. Hinton wrote books that were very popular among the young adults of the 80's. She wrote using her initials instead of her name, Susie, because of her fear that male readers would not enjoy books with male narrator characters that were written by a woman.

The books that S.E. Hinton wrote focus on the trials and tribulations of working class teenage boys. They capture the feelings and essence of the characters in a way that many authors are not able to do. Many of her books have been made into movies. She has also written some books meant for small children.
