Flute player in the Irish tradition. Molloy is one of the masters of his instrument. He has a fluid style with strong influences from the techniques of uileann piping.

Matt Molloy was born in Ballaghadereen, County Roscommon on January 12, 1947. He is well known from his work with the Chieftains which he joined in 1979. He was a founding member of the very influential group The Bothy Band in 1970. These days Molloy continues to record irish traditional music when he is not busy tending his pub in Westport, County Mayo, Ireland.

My favorite records with Matt Molloy are "The Bothy Band" (1975), "Matt Molloy" (1984), and "Stony Steps" (1987).
