The point of this movie WAS to make one depressed. Empathy was definitely applied effectively here. Being Christian and not Jewish, I could not adequately relate to the Holocaust before this movie. I was younger when I saw it for the first time, and each and every single time I view it, I cry. I may not have lived it, nor fully comprehend what it is to feel that one's race is being exterminated; however, I can understand brutal violence and evil. This movie gave an accurate albeit graphic representation of it. Violence and Evil can be graphic, can be depressing, can be sad, and can be senseless. I felt that with this movie. This movie is a triumph in cinematic communication.
