The
Gateway Footbal Conference is a
NCAA Div. I conference that was founded in August, 1982. At the time it was only called the
Gateway Conference and it was a women's athletic organization. It became the
Gateway Football Organization when the women's organizations realigned to bring each school's women's and men's organizations into the same conferences. Many of which joined the
Missouri Valley Conference. All the schools in this compete in
NCAA Division I-AA football.
