In
1987, the National Air Traffic Controllers Association was founded to ensure
safety and longevity of
air traffic controller positions around
the nation. On June 19, 1987, the
Federal Labor Relations Authority certified NATCA as the exclusive bargaining representative for
Federal Aviation Administration air traffic controllers.
Currently, NATCA represents over 15,000 air traffic controllers throughout the
U.S.,
Puerto Rico and
Guam, along with 2,508 other bargaining units with members that span the areas of
engineering and
architecture to
nursing and
health care professions to members of the
accounting community.
