I've discovered that owning high quality audio equipment is the way to ruin your ability to enjoy music. Awhile ago I got a pair of audiophile grade headphones (sony mdr-v900s) in anticipation of a 12 hour flight to israel. Now, I've found that I can't listen to anything but them at all, except for other ridiculously priced audio gear. I can't listen to mp3s anymore, can't listen to portable cd players, can't listen to shelf systems, or tv speakers, all becuase I get hung up on the lack of fidelity. So, save yourself, buy the cheap stuff, unless you really do have enough money to pay for incredibly priced high quality audio equipment.
