Ger"bil (?), Ger`bille" (?), n. [F. gerbille. Cf. Jerboa.] Zool.
One of several species of small, jumping, murine rodents, of the genus Gerbillus. In their leaping powers they resemble the jerboa. They inhabit Africa, India, and Southern Europe.
