Der`o*tre"ma*ta (?), n. pl. [NL., fr. Gr. skin + , , hole.] Zool.

The tribe of aquatic Amphibia which includes Amphiuma, Menopoma, etc. They have permanent gill openings, but no external gills; -- called also Cryptobranchiata.
