Specific-purpose
script, usually written in a fit of
inspiration in
Perl or other powerful
scripting language to solve one problem quickly and to largish extent (if not completely).
These have funny tendencies to either a) stay like they are, doing whatever they were supposed to do, for a long time (see my first Perl programs for some examples), or b) evolve into more general-purpose and more broadly usable scripts.
