Amazon.com has been known to do many many bad things, including the recent evil
1-click software patent hassle.
In past, they had a form on their web page, and by giving your e-mail address there, you could get loads of spam from them. Now, of course, it had no kind of verification that you actually wanted to be on their mailing list, nor it had any obvious way to unsubscribe; Thus, it was used by many malicious people to spam the unwary.
This earned Amazon a new nickname: Spamazon.
