Ninety precent of what passes for normal
entertainment is as plotless, intellectually barren, and boring as
pornography anyway. At least the pornographers have no
illusions about their craft. If you are unable to create
entertainment which lifts the spirit, provokes the mind, or moves the soul, at least make something with
practical use. Is pornography the
paragon of cinema? No. But I certainly get more out of porn than I get out of
Six Days, Seven Nights or
Veronica's Closet.
Doesn't it say something troubling about our culture that the act considered to be the most obscene, degrading and disgraceful is the process by which human life is created? And that the most offensive image is that of our own natural bodies?
