Regarded by most tourist guides as the worst tourist attraction in London, the London Dungeon is a feast of gratuitous tat for people who haven't the time to go to Madame Tussaud's Chamber of Horrors or the taste to go to the Tower of London. If your idea of fun is dwelling at length on the unpleasantness of human nature with bad special effects to make the point, go hire a cheap horror movie. The London Dungeon is in Southwark, on the south bank of the river Thames, and consists of waxworks and animatronics celebrating various gory crimes, evil acts and miscarriages of justice from British history. I have never felt any inclination to visit, but from scrutinising publicity material and reviews, I gain the forceful impression that this is not an attraction which is long on scholarship.
