Henry was born on August 17, 1977, and his professional football career began at age 17, when he debuted for AS Monaco. He played there as a left winger for the next few years until Italian giant Juventus picked him up in 1999. After a short and unsuccessful stint there he joined Arsenal in August 1999. There he was reunited with manager Arsène Wenger, who had signed him to Monaco years before. Wenger moved him up the field to become a striker, and since then Henry has become one of the most feared attackers in Europe. In his 149 games for Arsenal he's scored 80 goals, which means that on average he scores in more than every other game. He was the English Premier League's top scorer in 2001-2002 (along with Alan Shearer), and his 24 goals helped Arsenal win the double for the third time.

Henry is also a key player in the French national team although he hasn't scored as much for them (12 goals in 38 games). He played an important part when France won the 1998 FIFA World Cup and the 2000 European Championship, scoring 3 goals in each tournament.
