Scientific Name: Balaena mysticetus

Distinctive Features: The Bowhead is also known as the Greenland Right Whale. It has a large head, a big bowed mouth, no dorsal fin, and a large white chin patch. It also will never possess any callosities. It has 325-360 baleen plates that are 4-6 meters long, having the biggest baleen of any baleen whale.

Size: It's 3.5-5.5 meters at birth.

Distribution: Found only in Arctic waters.

Reproduction: The Bowhead mates in late summer, and gives birth in the spring. 10 month gestation, and it's weaned at 6 months. It gives birth every 2 years.

Diet: The Bowhead eats various small crustaceans.
