Something to say to someone when
drinking beers at a
pub here in
Australia. Ideally, you should at least be a
casual acquaintance with the person you direct this at - It is risky (to say the least) to say this to a
total stranger. Of course, the
phrase can be said at other times (especially if you're a complete
alcoholic and you say '
Cheers' instead of thanks or something anyway), but is best used in a pub.
The only correct response if, while drinking in a pub, someone says this to you is: Same goes, big nose. If you do not know the person, that's okay, but it is a little odd for them to say it. It is not uncommon for them to raise their glass and nod their head as they say it, and you should do the same - both of you should drink out of your glasses then at roughly the same time.
