Amanda Peet was born in New York on January 11, 1972. She is the daughter of social worker Penny Peet and lawyer Charles Peet (also has an older sister). Charles Peet obtained a divorce from Penny Peet in 1990. Her education includes graduating from Friends Seminary (New York) and later in 1994 earning a Bachelor's Degree in history from Columbia University. She has brown hair, blue eyes and is 5'6" tall.
While she was studying history at Columbia University, a drama professor convinced her to audition for acting teacher Uta Hagen with whom she would later go on to study with for a four year period. During her auditioning phase, she supported herself by waitressing and with the checks she received from a Skittles candy commercial she had managed to land. She made her film debut in 1995's Animal Room, and bit parts in She's the One with Jennifer Aniston, and One Fine Day with Michelle Pfeiffer. Amanda is known for starring in the hit comedy The Whole Nine Yards (2000) opposite Bruce Willis. She has also appeared in television shows such as Seinfeld, Spin City, Law & Order and is well known to audiences for her role as Jack in the hit drama series Jack & Jill.
