The title of this
album is a reference to a
puzzle fad in which simple
line drawings were given, and the reader was challenged to identify the
subject of the drawing.
In the case of "Ship Arriving Too Late To Save A Drowning Witch", the drawing looked like this:

This was fairly typical of the genre: you had no chance of correctly guessing the answer, and only in retrospect did it make any sense at all.
The visual counterpart to elephant jokes, if you ask me.
