Olympian athlete who won the gold medal in women's moguls (freestyle ski jumping) in the 2002 Winter Olympics.

Traa, a Norwegian in her late 20s (born January 28, 1974), got her start relatively late, in her mid-teens. After placing in local competitions, she has trained aggressively; she won the bronze in Nagano and the gold in Salt Lake City, and might have done well in Lillehammer had she not been injured while training.

Kari Traa regularly gets triples in midair (three tricks in a row), but she's not resting on her laurels. She's currently working on quadruples.
