Infused by aliens with twice the
speed and
strength of a normal person (hey, you want
hyperbole, go read
Superman),
Captain Canuck is a
Canadian superhero who graduated from simply protecting
Canada to
peacekeeping duties on
Earth and in
outer space.
Along with his counterpart Capitaine Kébec (not a sidekick, mind you), Captain Canuck and his electro-thermic underwear have been working to safeguard the Great White North and its neighbours since their creation in 1975 by Richard Comely.
The National Library of Canada's Web exhibit on Captain Canuck says that he "[embodies] the Canadian awareness of the duality and the limitations of our country". I am not making this up.
Captain Canuck has appeared on a 45-cent stamp, in many comic books, and still runs in some Canadian newspaper funny pages.
